Serena is an ex-police officer who has been writing poetry for over 3 decades. She draws influence from her time in the force, her work in youth and mental health services, and her experiences as a woman of mixed heritage growing up in London. She currently lives on the borders with Essex where she works in education.

Her poetry continues to ground her, and she has in recent years begun to share her work in the form of books and videos, punctuated with a number of talks, keynote speeches, and live performances. She often references the story of the Two Wolves, feeling like she was feeding the wrong one for many years. Finally, with poetry at the heart of everything she does, she is now feeding the right wolf.
