Exposure of My Heart

Oh how I miss you,
When I held you
you taught me just who
I was behind the shutters,
You showed me my true colours,
That I was like no other
when I bled;
I saw crimson,
I saw claret,
I saw carmine,
and I saw scarlet,
And now you’re gone,
My love,
Most all I see is
red;
The vividness of life
is all but dead,
Together we shared elation,
Unbeknown to all creation,
I used to pity them
– Their ignorance; a shame –
But now I cower with them,
No power and no wisdom,
And I miss the
transcendent
bond that we maintained,
I was blind,
You made me see,
With your heart you set mine free,
With God’s light
and with your truth,
You were my muse,
I was your Hughes,
And we made sweet poetry,
My dearest 50D.

This poem way written for NaPoWriMo. Today’s prompt was ‘write a love poem about an inanimate object‘ I chose my old Canon 50D DSLR camera and my brief and long lost love affair with Photography.  Oh the memories….!

  1. this is great fun and has a beautiful rhyme and rhythm to it too. I really enjoyed it, a great take on the prompt.

      Thanks so much. When I used to do photography, I described my style as ‘poetry with light’ so as soon as I read the prompt it made sense to use my camera as my muse! Glad you enjoyed it.
